West Coast hip hop is heating up this summer with one hot show after the other. Recently I had the chance to catch up with Big Omeezy who is signed to Sick Wid It records/OLH Entertainment. For those who may not know, Sick Wid It is owned by the Bay Area general himself, E40. Big Omeezy tours with E40 all around the world

Last week, Hot 97′s DJ Drewski teamed up with recording artist Jim Jones for a listening event for Jim Jones’ Vampire Life EP. The #WeOwnTheNight event was held at Rosewood in New York City and was hosted by Hot 97′s L Boogs.

Special guests included Chrissy Lampkin, Damon Dash, Maino, Willy Dope of Par-City, Baiyu, Hot 97′s DJ Spynfo, Hot 97′s DJ Wallah, DJ Spin King, Hot 97′s Dominican Drew, Jack Thriller, Pure, Boola, Talia Cole, DJ Naim, and more.

The west coast hip hop awards have been in motion for around 4 years now and still haven’t got a decent liftoff the ground; in fact they don’t even have a website yet. When I received this information from SMG Global artist Trigga Man; I thought to myself.. “Let’s check the facts”. When I did the instinctive thing and “Googled”, I found no website; however, coincidentally I scored on a Facebook page.

Who is James Scott? ……….The R&B/Alternative artist who was formally known as Eddie Writer has renewed his image and his persona. When asked why he changed his image he said “The name was given to me when I was 16 years old and I’ve grown a lot since then…..I feel James Scott has the style/image I definitely want to run with it.” James compares his style of music to artist such as Miguel, Kid Cudi, and Frank Ocean. James is gearing up to release his debut album titled “Wings Of Nostalgia” which will be dropping this summer 2013.

It seems James Scott is definitely the artist we should be on the look out for.!!

On Her Success: “I’m the luckiest board in HollyWood now. To be the lead actor on “Scandal and to be in the highest-earning Tarantino movie I don’t get to ask for more.”

On Getting Red-Carpet Ready: “I found out I enjoy the process. All these people show up at my house, they all have kits, someone has dresses. And it’s like. Let’s have fun. It’s not all about me. We’re able to create stories on the red carpet.”

On The Career Washington Thought She’d Pursue: “I imagined I’d be a clinical psychologist with a focus on how performance shapes identity. I’d figure out ways to use role-playing in the healing of people.

#TaniaOnTheScene – Being sent “up the river” traditionally refers to Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, New York about 30 miles up the Hudson from New York City. Grammy winning Singer Lauryn Hill was sentenced in Newark. She could still appeal her sentence, but my guess is she won’t even if she thinks it’s unfair. If the singer does go to jail, it will be brief and though no facility was specified, it will likely be in a reduced security facility.

Hill is charged with failure to pay federal taxes on 1.8 million dollars earned between 2005-2007.
